I know, I know, I know...I suck at this updating thing. I've been so busy simply enjoying my life that I've forgotten to update y'all on it. Oops...sorry.
So, I am kinda enjoying my job but mostly cuz of the folks I work with and the patients I take care of. It has nothing to do with the hospital because, quite frankly, it's pretty freakin archaic. Picture West Central with a few more beds and a more organized ICU and ER. The Med/Surg portion, where I play 3 nocs a week, isn't modern at all and there are just some things that we do that I shake my head at on a regular basis. Like accuchek results, for example...we document them in FOUR places. FOUR??? WHY??? "so it's easier for the doctors to find them". Uh, HUH? lol Anyway, rumor has it that electronic charting is coming this year. Which, for me, is a huge sigh of relief because I forget what to write in a long, dragged out narrative assessment. :)
Kye and I are doing great!! We just celebrated our half-a-versary as we've been together for 6 months now. Seems like we've been together years most days because it's so easy and so comfortable. Never in my life did I think THIS was possible. EVER! But I'm so glad that the universe thought differently. Phew!
We just returned from a weekend in Napa with his family where we had a GREAT time! I've now met all of his siblings as the sister, Shae, that lives in New Zealand was here for this weekend in Napa. She's a riot and way silly. Perfect for a dork like me to interact with, huh?
Kye leaves March 30th for 6 weeks in New Zealand. While I will miss him TERRIBLY, it'll give me some time alone to do things I want to do like learn to knit, learn to can (anyone wanna come teach me???) and finish a few sewing projects (yes, Crystal...yours is one of them. I swear, by your 2nd anniversary LOL). I just like spending time with him so much that I have no desire to do any of my 'obligational' type things. I've told him that he has to bring me back 6 "pretty things" because he'll be gone 6 weeks. :) He's ready for the challenge he says. While he's gone, I'll be working some OT to save up for my new car that will be purchased upon his return. The options currently are a Honda CRV and a Chevy Equinox. We both prefer the Equinox for various reasons but the main draw is the larger engine as I travel "The Grade" (big word for HUGE ASS STEEP HILL) 3 nocs a week when I go to work. The bigger engine will make that easier. We'll see. Gonna test drive both a few times while he's gone to make sure I pick the right one.
The kids are doing fabulous! Tyler is in driver's ed (*sigh*) and hating it because "it's not designed for an AP student, Mom! I'm so bored!!". I told him it's not the most boring thing he'll do in his life and to suck it up. That, of course, went over like a lead balloon. ShaeLyn is growing up quickly and is, all of the sudden, way into Lady GaGa. EEEK! My sweet little conservative child walks around singing "Bad Romance". Oh help us! lol
Here are a few pics of our new home. LOVE IT!! We have a creek that runs along the back side of the house where we watch deer, eggrets (spelling??) and ducks...oh and the squirrels that drive Koda (border collie/chow mix) NUTS! We have a walnut tree, an orange tree, a lemon tree and a plum tree (that's going to produce WAY lots of fruit (hence the need to learn to can)). I absolutely can't wait for warmer temps to sit on the back deck and enjoy the beauty without a coat. Probably next month cuz we've been in the high 60's for a bit now.
Love you all and miss you tons. I need pics of pregnant bellies (MARY!) and life in Indiana. Crystal, please hug Matt and Jess Hagan for me please!!!!
