I have made a committment (I think I may have been medicated when I did it...) to do the 2 day, 39 mile walk Avon breast cancer walk in September in Santa Barbara. My best friend, Vonni, was diagnosed in December, 2009, with breast cancer and has since had a mastectomy on both sides (not at the same time :( ) and undergone chemo and radiation. She is now in the process of reconstruction with implants and we will be doing the walk together.
I have to raise a minimum of $1,800 but I'd love to raise more than that. This is an awful disease and we need to find a cure! In my attempts to raise funds, I will be doing bake sales at work, collecting cans and turning them in for $, and my amazingly talented husband has made the following kiwis for me to auction off. We will be awarding one every 6 weeks (he's making 1 more) to the highest donation. Aren't they adorable????
